A proxy (Proxy) is a special type of network service that allows one network terminal (typically a client) to connect to another network terminal (usually a server) indirectly through this service. Some gateways, routers, and other network devices have proxy capabilities. Proxy services are generally believed to be beneficial for protecting the privacy or security of network terminals and preventing attacks.
The computer system or other types of network terminal that provides proxy services is called a Proxy Server. A complete proxy request process is as follows: the client first establishes a connection with the proxy server, and then, according to the proxy protocol used by the proxy server, requests to establish a connection to the target server or obtain specified resources from the target server (such as files). In the latter case, the proxy server may download the target server's resources to a local cache. If the resource requested by the client is in the cache of the proxy server, the proxy server will not send a request to the target server but will directly return the cached resource. Some proxy protocols allow the proxy server to modify the client's original request and the target server's original response to meet the needs of the proxy protocol. Options and settings in computer programs typically include a "firewall" that allows users to enter the proxy address, which can conceal their network activity and allow bypassing Internet filters. In fact, such programs connect users to the Internet.
